On a cold, brutal, gray* Saturday in Basel, the Intruders fought their way to 2nd place out of 14 teams, narrowly* losing the final to local rivals, the Zurich/ETH Mockingbirds. The MVP on the day was QB Dave Cipullo, whose gaudy 21 TDs : 1 INT ratio would put Aaron Rodgers to shame. The Intruders overcame early adversity, as regular-season MVP Francis was crippled by Thor* in the first game, while star defensive back Nadja, after a loan move from the Eglisau Scorpions, suffered a similar fate later on. However, the Intruders would not be thwarted, making some key defensive stops to stay on track. Overall, this can probably be credited to Coach Juan Sanchez, whose savvy defensive schemes more than compensated for his somewhat puzzling dedication to trick plays on offense. The Intruders will now go into the winter break with a strong platform for 2016 success.
